The class must be keeping pretty busy with the day jobs as not too many have paused to send some updates for the notes. A few things did come in from some folks we haven't heard from lately.
Charlie Jager continued his outstanding performance as remote correspondent in the DC area. The photo he sent along was from a lunch gathering last month. As Charlie said, "It was nice to see some folks we hadn't visited with in quite some time." The attendees included Jim Robbins, Rod Smith, Jim Rendon, Paul Wiedenhoeft, Jim Ferguson, Greg Bartolett, and Mary & Charlie Jager. Credit for organizing the regular class lunches goes to Jim Ferguson. As for lunch table conversation, we hear from Charlie, "Let's see if I can get this straight. Jim Robbins has been recalled to active duty and is working on Nat'l Defense policy in G-0. Jim Rendon works on the Hill on a Congressional subcommittee. Jim Ferguson is at HQ in the acquisitions directorate. Smitty is involved with Deepwater (but soon departing for Alameda, CA). Mary is in the office of Investigations & Analysis in G?M. Paul and I work with computer systems in G-S and G-M respectively. And Greg Bartolett works for Booze-Allen & Hamilton." Thanks for the update. Charlie, and great work, Jim, keeping the team connected.

An email came in from Larry Fishler that read, "Wow, almost 19 years. How time flies. I'm not very active with the CG anymore, but I continue to keep tabs on classmates through the Alumni Bulletin. Whenever I travel and have a chance, I look for CG bases and units and stop by if I know there is a classmate there." Larry's work phone number is 610-882-1820 so give him a call and invite him to your part of the world to visit a classmate.
Some of us might remember a classmate by the name of Tom Sargent. Tom's grandfather (of the same name) is a frequent Bulletin contributor from the class of 1938. Jean asked about Tom and received a complete update from him. Tom is the press secretary for the Nevada Attorney General. Tom is a single parent of his son Dylan and they live in Reno. Displaying a liking for the sea and its lore, Tom and Dylan spend "spend a lot of time camping, fishing and mostly sailing Lake Tahoe and also in San Diego. We go to Hawaii often for surfing and snorkeling, too." With all the lawyers in the class, it's only a matter of time before an 83'er will be working with Tom.
I can personally report that all is well in Seattle with the '83 crowd. I had the chance to see Jackie & Nick Stagliano and Lurilla Lee on a recent trip. Lurilla was finishing up her time being recalled to active duty while Nick & Jackie are enjoying their tour in Seattle. I also got to see John Kaplan ('82 but good enough to be '83) and can report that he and his engineering crew have kept the Coast Guard assets in top engineering form. That is good news for classmates John Odell and Bruce Toney who are headed into town to be the ISC and Polar Star XO's.
Looks like the Seattle squad might become a place to get regular '83 news from for the next few issues.
