Greetings – some news from the far and wide this time around.

The first update comes from Raul Mangalindan, who is with KPMG in downtown Toronto. Raul wrote, “I’m in the internal audit arm of this public practice firm, so the technical part of the work is not that different from where I was before. What’s different is I’ve changed from running the internal audit department to someone who will provide out- or co-sourcing work to the internal auditors. (I know, it just seems so interesting to me too.) A slightly different line of work from the rest of the class.” Who would have thought that 23 years ago we’d have these types of discussions in our class notes. If you’d like Raul’s e-mail address (He called it an “e-mail addy” – nice to have folks on the cutting edge to drag along the rest of us.), drop me a line to my addy and I’ll connect you.

Cub Schlatter wins the interesting job of the month award. He works in the Aircraft Management Division of Aviation Operations at NASA Headquarters. Sounds like that flight experience in the Coast Guard provided just the ticket for the net job. Congrats, Cub!

Dave Cinalli relayed that the underway life continues to be demanding. He dropped a note after finishing up TACT in Mayport and right before heading out on a 7-week patrol. When Dave gets back ashore he will be headed to the Naval War College in Newport. Us northerners look forward to connecting with Dave in the fall. Dave’s Change of Command on the VALIANT is July 27 in Miami. All ’83ers are invited to attend the festivities.

As one 83 leaves command, another enters. Chris Sinnett will soon be sailing the high seas as the EAGLE’s Commanding Officer. In a recent exchange, “Thanks, Vince — the entire family is looking forward to getting back to the central CT area. I’m going to be in town for PCO school April 10-21 so still have a few months to go.

“Appreciate the offer of help with house-hunting. The reason I picked the April PCO slot is that it coincides with my kids’ spring break, so they and Kathy will come up the 10th-15th and house-hunt while I’m in school. If we come up with any questions or issues, I’ll definitely ask you & Jean for your opinions and suggestions. More info is always better!

“Appreciate the help with locating those articles — just trying to refresh my memory a little more on the dynamics of sailing ship stability as opposed to the standard power driven vessel forces. — Take care — Chris” EAGLE’s change of command is scheduled for July 28 in Newport, RI.

And finally, the Wilczynski family took a day trip to the Boston area in April. As luck would have it, our visit coincided with the opening reception for Laura Jennings’ latest art show, where we caught up with Jack & Laura and Bob Fogel. If you have not seen her work, check out her website: www.LTryonJennings.com or www.studiodoors.com/tryonjennings.html. It’ll brighten your day!
