relayed, "Predictably, both presidential campaigns called seeking her endorsement. From Senator Kerry, `This was the Right baby, at the Right place, at the Right time.' President Bush responded, `Ann worked hard ... really hard ... worked REALLY...really hard work."' Our best wishes to

Molly Riordan gave a wonderful talk while accepting her CGA Athletic Hall of Fame award and distinguished herself as the first woman to receive this honor. Molly spoke of the importance of sports in her life, from the time when she was small and played sponge-baseball to today as a coach and parent of young athletes. Regarding sponge-baseball, Molly and her friends invented the game as a summer activity where a wet sponge was used as the ball and the mark it left on their neighbor's aluminum sided house determined the value of the hit. Molly spoke highly of the value of sports during her stay at the Academy and shared the feeling many of us share in that sports were essential to our success in enduring the Academy. It really was an inspiring message, and a reminder to continue to offer sport opportunities to our own children. And it was great to see Molly & Joe and their two children again.

As the year draws to a close I am reminded of the value and need for friendship. Being a member of the USCGA Class of 1983 is an honor that only very few people share. That honor coincides with friendships which last a lifetime. Jean & I wish all of you the very best in the next year, and we value your friendship.
