From Bert Diehl:
"Ed, Paul Guinee, and Spike got together for a long weekend at Ed's farm in Western NY ... about a mile from Chautauqua Lake. Rach & I hooked up with them for the last two days. Everyone had their kids there. There was live ammo shooting, exploring Ed's streams and fields (he has 80 acres), lively basketball games (Ed has a beautiful full court), large bonfires, and tubing on the lake. There were also lots of other Seebalds there ... Ray ('76), Joe ('82), and a sister and brother with CG affiliations.
"The weather was perfect. We called the gathering Edpalooza (think Woodstock without drug use or nudity...) in honor of our large, doof host ... who seems to be doing quite well running his own maritime security business. "We're hoping to do it again in the Summer of 2007 ... hopefully with more Class of '83 attendees (that's me ... speaking for Ed ... as usual).
Take care! Bert"

From the recently-retired Gil Teal:
"Hope all is well with you & Jean - sounds like CGA had a pretty good football season! I bet John Odell wishes he could have been there for that! "Attached is the '83 photo from my retirement on Bastille Day, July 14, 2006. Gene Gray and Keith Taylor also made appearances, but missed the photo. We had a pretty good crowd - but there was free food, after all. "All is going well in the new job; interesting work, good shipmates, and happy to have the opportunity to continue to serve in a new capacity with the Navy.

"As discussed, here is my `trophy photo' from my fishing trip to Alaska in August. This was the result of a one-day charter out of Craig, Alaska (on Prince of Wales Island, not far from Ketchikan). We limited out the boat very early in the day - 16 silver salmon, and 4 small(ish) halibut, plus a pink salmon and a ling cod. This was a really good outfit - the fish were so plentiful and fresh, my day of `fun' was starting to feel like `work' on a commercial boat. "My shipmate in the photo is CDR Steve McCleary, a fellow JAG who is now the XO at ISC Ketchikan. Whenever he transfers, I get a new fishing destination - I have done stripers while he was at Cape May, barracuda while he was at Key West, and now Salmon and Halibut in Ketchikan. Steve and I were previously stationed together in Anchorage (He was at the MSO and I was at the U.S. Attorneys Office), and we used to go after rainbow trout there.
"We also went out fishing with Karl Calvo one day on his boat - he is CO now in Ketchikan, and was a great host - invited me to a command party as well. He is loving his assignment!
"Fishing is a most excellent hobby! If anyone is interested in tips, guidance on fishing in Alaska, after 7 years up there and additional visits since, I think I can`hook folks up.'
~ Gil"
