The big news this month is the start of 83-Gen2 at CGA. Keith & Kathy Curran's daughter Brittany joined the CGA Class of 2008 on June 28 in New London. The enclosed photo shows one proud Dad and a bubbling daughter. As Keith wrote, "I really can't believe that Brittany is actually a cadet, even if only for a week!"

Keith also wrote, "I'm back in private industry now, working with bunch of retired Coasties - Rich Arnold and Fred White from '82 and Gary Merrick from '84. I guess they saw the light and figured they needed someone from an odd year class to even them all out! I'm doing performance consulting and training front-end analysis work. We've got some projects lined up with the FAA, the Dept. of Energy and the Coast Guard so it should be fun."
Looking ahead, I think Dan Abel's son is headed to CGA this summer for a visit during the AIM program. For any 83ers that might be sending their sons and daughters for a visit, be sure to give a call and we can arrange a mini-reunion during the stay. The local 83 (Simone, Kyle, Pat, Jim Sweet,Jean & I) group is happy to help.
Speaking of Dan Abel, recent message traffic noted his name on the promotion list to Captain. As this issue and others of The Bulletin come out another batch of 83ers will move into O-6. Congratulations to all the new Captains.
On local news, Pat Knowles has taken up a new sport as documented in the enclosed photo. Pat is starting a project know as Multi-Fishing where you try to catch as many fish as possible on a single line. As Pat says, "For centuries man has been limited to single-line, single fish. In the new economy, we all deserve as much as we want of anything, anytime. Multi-Fishing is just that for the modern sportsman." Humor aside, Pat continues to be a great asset for CGA as he volunteers as a Football coach and recruiter. In addition to all that Pat still serves the Coast Guard as he visits CGA to be my personal fitness trainer for daily workouts, thereby helping me keep up with the Coast Guard's new policy for physical fitness.
Life is good.
